FAQs

Q: What is Coaching?

A: Invariably, when I share that I am a Personal Coach, the question comes back, “Oh really, for what sport?” So, I've decided to roll with this. As they say, if you can't beat them, join them, right?

Like a Sports Coach, I seek to draw out the strengths and abilities of my clients. But, being a personal coach, I integrate the process of helping a person draw on their own inner wisdom. I coach my clients to enrich their lives through action in alignment with their desires and goals. I assist them in taking themselves "off the bench" and taking themselves onto the field as the quarterback for their own lives.

Q: What is your Coaching process?

A: I begin with an in-depth interview with my client to gather information about who they are today, where they are in their life now, and what it is they desire for themselves in the future. I develop and deliver an “integral life design” - a coaching program - based on my assessment of a client as a whole and their goals.

My client and I meet for coaching sessions on an ongoing basis (usually a minimum of three months) to work through the process of achieving desired results. The coaching sessions provide space for my client and I to build on the foundation of the coaching program; we co-create actions for my client to take to encourage necessary shifts in thinking, feeling and behavior in alignment to align themselves with their desired results.

Q: Aren't coaches only used by executives and other well-off business people?

A: Again, the Sports Coach analogy. Popular media only discusses how coaching is used by elite individuals, athletes and non-athletes alike: Barry Sanders, Michelle Kwan, Tiger Woods, and Oprah Winfrey, Tom Arnold and Katie Couric. They all know the power of having someone who will challenge and support them, who have their best interests and goals in mind when working with them. It is the same for all of us. I have coached everyday people who were frustrated in their life as it was and were ready to do whatever it took to make it better. Coaching is a support system which will enrich the life of anyone who is able and willing to take action.

Q: Isn't coaching expensive?

A: It depends on how valuable it is to a client. It is only as valuable as a client wants it to be. Still, we are sensitive to the fact that while the future benefits of coaching may be priceless for some clients, their current bank account may not believe it. Therefore, after a complimentary coaching consultation, I am open to discuss discounting fees with the individual requesting coaching. Coaching is special and it is also available to everyone, just as is higher education.

I'm reminded of how I felt about what and how I paid for my undergraduate degree. It was definitely beyond what I could afford to pay working a full-time job while earning the degree. I applied for and received a few student grants, more student loans and family loans. Looking back, I can tell you it was well worth the investment I made in the future I desired to create for myself.

If you feel you are not financially prepared to make an investment in coaching, consider the following:

What is the value of what I receive when I am not alone in achieving my desires and goals?
What is the cost of not to being coached, and trying attain my goals without someone who is dedicated to my interests along with me?
When will I decide I am worth the investment?
